Introduction
Verso is a daily verse app. This Privacy Policy explains what data the app collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what your rights are. The data controller is Verso, which you can reach at any time by email at versobibleapp@gmail.com. This policy covers the Verso app and this website.
Our principle is simple: we collect the minimum needed for the app to work and improve. Verso does not require sign-up and does not track you across apps for advertising.
Data we collect
Anonymous identity. The first time you open the app, we create an anonymous identity for you using Supabase Anonymous Auth. There is no need to give a name or email, or to create an account.
Email (optional). If you choose to sign in with Google or with Apple, we receive the email address tied to that account. This is optional and is used only to identify you if you switch devices.
Usage and diagnostics. To understand how the app is used and to fix bugs, we collect device information, in-app usage events, and crash reports through Firebase (Google Analytics for Firebase and Crashlytics) and PostHog.
Notifications. If you turn on notifications, we generate a push token through Firebase Cloud Messaging so we can send your daily verse reminder.
Purchases. The subscription is optional and is processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. Verso does not collect or store payment or card data — the store handles that.
Location (optional). We only access your location if you grant permission, and only for nearby features.
Photos (optional). If you pick a photo from your library as the background for a verse card, the photo stays on your device. We do not upload your photos to our servers.
Local preferences. Your preferences and history (for example, your daily streak) are stored locally on your device (MMKV / SQLite).
How we use data and legal bases
We use data to: deliver the daily verse and audio narration; keep your streak and history; process and restore subscriptions; send notifications you have enabled; understand usage and fix errors; and protect the app from abuse.
Under Brazil’s General Data Protection Law (LGPD, art. 7), we process your data to provide the service you requested, with your consent (for notifications, location, and photos), and on the basis of our legitimate interest in keeping the app secure and running. For users in the European Economic Area, under the GDPR, the corresponding legal bases are performance of a contract (art. 6(1)(b)), consent (art. 6(1)(a)), and legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f)).
Sharing and processors
We do not sell your data. We share data only with the providers that make the app possible, which act as processors on our behalf:
Supabase — database and sync, including the anonymous identity. Apple and Google — Sign in with Apple and with Google, and subscription processing (App Store and Google Play). Google also provides Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, and Cloud Messaging) and Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, which we use to generate the audio narration through a server-side function (a Supabase Edge Function). PostHog — product and usage analytics.
Tracking and advertising
Verso does not track you across other apps or websites for advertising. The app contains no ad-attribution or advertising SDKs and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) to track you. The diagnostic tools we use serve only to improve the app itself.
Retention and your rights
We keep your data only as long as needed for the purposes described above. Under the LGPD and the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data, as well as to object to certain processing and withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, write to versobibleapp@gmail.com.
Data deletion
Because your identity in the app is anonymous, there is little tied to you. Even so, if you’d like your data removed from our servers, email versobibleapp@gmail.com and we’ll take care of the deletion within 30 days.
International transfer
Some of our providers (Supabase and Google/Firebase) process data on servers located in the United States. This means your data may be transferred and processed outside your country, always with appropriate safeguards and in line with the LGPD and the GDPR.
Children
Verso is not directed at young children and does not knowingly collect data from children. The app is intended for users aged 13 and over. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us so we can remove it.
Cookies (this website)
This website uses only privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics (Vercel). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time. When there are meaningful changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
If you have questions about this policy or your data, reach us by email at versobibleapp@gmail.com.
